Megan and her best friend Talia

In April I started watching Megan's friend Talia one or two days a week.  The girls enjoyed playing with each other and had many special, cute moments together.  Sometimes they argued over wanting the same doll or toy, but overall they enjoyed having a playmate for the day.

Fun at the Park

We tried to go camping this weekend, and it was a total bust.  First, due to the high fire danger, we couldn't have a campfire.  So, we got to the campsite (which wasn't very nice - no tree coverage and lots of ants) and set up camp and then cooked our dinner on our propane stove.  It just doesn't have the same feel as cooking over a campfire.  Plus, no toasted marshmallows.  Then later that evening it started to rain, so we spent most of the time in the camper.  We called it a night and tried to get some sleep.  But then Nadia got very sick with diarrhea and needed out every 45 minutes or so.  It made for a long night.  Then next morning Megan and Daddy took a walk down to the lake while I tried to get a little bit of sleep.  Megan really wanted to take a boat ride, so they walked back up to check on me and make plans.  Nadia was still very sick, so instead of a boat ride we just decided to pack up camp and head home in case we needed to take Nadia to the vet.  Megan was upset so we promised her we would take her on a boat ride when we got back home.  So, to make good on our promise, the next morning we headed to a park that had a small lake with paddle boats, a playground, and water fountains.  I think she had just as much fun if not more than if we were camping with no campfire and ants crawling on us.  So, no pictures of camping, but lots of her at the park.

Carnival FUN

The carnival came to the Orchard mall by our house and so of course Megan spotted the rides and just had to go.  We were more than happy to take her.  She loves riding rides (just like her daddy) and can't get enough of them.  We all rode the ferris wheel together and then she rode the rest of the rides by herself.  She even rode the rickety, old carousel all by herself.  I was so scared she was going to fall right off, but she held on and did great.

Our first camping trip this year

Yea!  Camping season is here.  We wanted to go camping this last weekend, but we didn't have reservations anywhere.  So, Robert drove the camper up on Thursday night after work to get a spot and then set it up and drove home so he could go to work on Friday.  What a devoted father.  Then on Friday afternoon we headed up.  Robert found a great little campsite up just past Nederland.  We finished setting up camp and then enjoyed dinner and smores around the campfire.  Megan doesn't really like smores (like her mommy) but she loves roasted marshmellows.  She likes her daddy to toast them over the campfire and then hand the gooey marshmellow to her.  Needless to say, she ends up a sticky mess.

The next day after breakfast and a little hammock fun, we decided to go horseback riding.  Just down the road from our campsite was a little place that advertised horseback riding.  Megan was so excited to go on a real horse ride.  Since she was only 2, she had to ride with someone that worked there.  At first we wondered if she would be OK with that, but she didn't mind as long as she got to ride a horse.  Her horses name was Poppy, and she has been talking about Poppy ever since.

Going to ride some horses!

Trip to Powell

We took a trip up to Powell over Memorial Day weekend to see Robert's family and put flowers on the gravestones in Thermopolis for my grandparents and uncles.  We got to see all of Robert's family and enjoyed the time there.  Taelyne came over from Billings with her boys and Megan enjoyed having some "kid" company.  Rodney and Carol also came by to see us.  Granma Shirley was doing great and Megan and her loved playing Wii Animal Crossings together.  Megan could sit for hours telling Grandma Shirley what to do and where to go.  It was so good that we had the chance to get up there to see Robert's grandparents as his grandpa wasn't doing so well and actually ended up passing away just about 2 weeks later.  Megan stayed with Grandma Roessing in Denver (as she had just taken that long car ride) while Robert and I went up for the funeral.

Easter

We had lots of fun this Easter.  We had a fun Easter party with our friends at Will's house and then we dyed Easter eggs at Grandma's house with Dylan and Ryan and Atley (Dylan and Ryan's cousin).

On Easter morning,  after finding the Easter eggs and presents that the Easter Bunny hid at our house, we went over to Grandma's house.  For Easter Megan got some small items and a princess kitchen.  She loved the kitchen.  We had brunch at Grandma's house and then went to the park for an Easter Egg hunt.
Trying on the bunny mask Grandma gave her.

Looking for those Easter eggs.
